This time, we would like to introduce a client with slightly thick, resilient hair and strong waves who received Coconut Hair Straightening®︎.
Hair Condition Before the Treatment
This client had no previous history of either hair straightening or hair coloring.
Her hair was slightly thick with good natural elasticity, and large, noticeable waves appeared from the roots through the ends both when the hair was dry and when it was wet.
She also had a high hair density, which caused the overall shape to expand outward.
There was some tangling and roughness toward the ends as well, making daily styling quite time-consuming.
What Is Important When Straightening Thick, Dense Hair?
When people see strong waves or curls, they may assume:
“Wouldn’t a stronger chemical formula straighten it better?”
However, the result of Japanese hair straightening is not determined by chemical strength alone.
When the hair is thick and dense, it is especially important to apply the solution evenly to every section.
If some areas receive more product than others, the chemical reaction can become uneven, which may affect both the straightening result and the condition of the hair.
It is also important to rinse the solution thoroughly and to remove excess moisture completely before using the flat iron.
If chemical residue or too much water remains inside the hair when heat is applied, it can contribute to unnecessary damage.
Each of these steps may seem simple, but carefully controlling every stage of the treatment is what helps create a beautiful result and maintain a better hair texture over time.
For this client, we assessed both the strength of the hair and the strength of the waves, then carefully straightened the hair from roots to ends using Coconut Hair Straightening®︎.
The choice of formula, application technique, rinsing, drying, and flat-ironing process all matter.

Recrystallization Treatment for Longer-Lasting Smoothness
As the finishing step for Coconut Hair Straightening®︎, we also perform our Recrystallization Treatment.
This treatment creates a water-resistant, hydrophobic foundation inside the hair through crystalline structures that are difficult to dissolve in water.
By improving this internal foundation, your daily home-care treatment can adhere more effectively to the hair.
This helps the smooth, silky and moisturized feeling remain easier to maintain over time.
Rather than relying only on the temporary coating effect of a salon treatment, our goal is to create a foundation inside the hair that supports better everyday hair care.
A Smoother, More Compact Finish from Roots to Ends
After the treatment, the large waves that had been visible from roots to ends were smoothed out beautifully.
The roughness and tangling at the ends also improved, and the client was very happy with the final straight, glossy result.
The actual amount of hair has not changed.
However, once the waves that were causing the hair to expand outward are straightened, the overall silhouette becomes much more compact.
The previously rough ends also felt smoother and more moisturized, allowing the fingers to pass through the hair much more easily.

We Adjust the Technique to Each Client’s Hair Condition
Even if two clients both have “thick hair with strong waves,” the right treatment can be very different depending on hair stiffness, density, previous coloring, previous straightening, and accumulated damage.
This client had not previously colored or chemically straightened her hair.
However, if the hair has been repeatedly colored or the ends are already heavily damaged, we would not use exactly the same approach.
