Good morning from melco HairDesign Okinawa!
“I’m bothered by all the small flyaway hairs on the surface.”
“Even if I use a flat iron in the morning, my hair starts to frizz again by lunchtime.”
Does this sound familiar?
Hair that has been colored repeatedly can gradually become drier as chemical stress accumulates.
In Okinawa’s humid climate, when this dryness is combined with natural waves or curls, the hair may become even more difficult to control.
Today, we would like to introduce a client who was concerned about surface flyaways, frizz, and unwanted volume and received Coconut Hair Straightening®︎.
Repeated Hair Coloring Can Make Frizz More Noticeable
Hair color itself is not always the direct cause of frizz.
However, repeated coloring can affect the moisture and oil balance of the hair, making it more prone to dryness.
When this is combined with natural waves, curls, or high humidity, clients may begin to notice:
- Fine flyaway hairs around the surface
- Hair that expands again several hours after styling
- Less visible shine
- Difficulty keeping the hair smooth throughout the day
We receive many consultations from clients with these same concerns.

The Client’s Hair Before Treatment
This client had been coloring her hair every month.
The hair had lost some elasticity, and there were signs of dryness throughout the length.
The waves were especially noticeable around the face, while fine flyaway hairs were visible across the surface.
Before performing Coconut Hair Straightening®︎, we carefully evaluate factors such as:
- How much stress has accumulated from repeated coloring
- Hair thickness
- Strength of the waves or curls
- Condition of the mid-lengths and ends
- Areas that require stronger or gentler treatment
For this client, we properly straightened the stronger waves around the face while adjusting the chemical strength through the mid-lengths and ends according to their condition.
We also carefully controlled the drying process and the way heat was applied with the flat iron.
Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ Is Adjusted to the Condition of the Hair
With Coconut Hair Straightening®︎, we do not use the same strength or technique on every section.
Colored hair can have very different conditions from roots to ends.
Some areas may still have good elasticity, while others may have accumulated more dryness and chemical stress.
For this reason, we carefully adjust the chemical formula, drying method, heat application, and iron technique according to what each section actually needs.
Our goal is not simply to make the hair as straight as possible.
We want to create smooth, manageable hair while preserving as much natural softness and flexibility as possible.

Smooth, Soft, and Naturally Shiny Hair
After the treatment, the surface flyaways became much less noticeable and the hair settled more smoothly through the ends.
The finished texture was what we describe as “Sara-Shito” — smooth and silky, yet soft and moisturized in feel.
Rather than creating an excessively straight or stiff finish, we preserved natural softness while improving overall manageability.
Even after simply blow-drying, the hair now has a smoother shape, natural shine, and easier movement through the ends.
This can also reduce the amount of time needed with a flat iron every morning.
In Okinawa’s humid weather, having hair that stays more manageable throughout the day can make everyday styling much easier.
If Your Colored Hair Becomes Frizzy in Humid Weather
At melco HairDesign Okinawa, we carefully evaluate the condition of repeatedly colored hair before performing Coconut Hair Straightening®︎.
By controlling both the chemical strength and technical process according to the current condition of the hair, we aim to create a soft, naturally glossy finish without placing unnecessary stress on already delicate areas.
If you are concerned about:
“Dryness after repeated hair coloring.”
“Small flyaway hairs around the surface.”
“Hair that becomes frizzy again as soon as I go outside.”
please feel free to consult with us.
We will carefully assess your current hair condition and recommend an appropriate way to perform hair straightening without asking the hair to handle more than it needs to.
