Good morning from melco HairDesign Okinawa!
Have you ever been told:
“We can’t straighten your hair because it has been bleached.”
Hair straightening on bleached hair is certainly more technically demanding than straightening untreated hair.
However, having bleached hair does not automatically mean that hair straightening is impossible.
What matters is carefully evaluating the current condition of the hair and adjusting every step of the treatment accordingly.
Today, we would like to introduce a client who was concerned about waves continuing through the ends, along with dryness and damage caused by previous bleaching.
Why Does Bleached Hair Require More Care?
Bleached hair is generally more sensitive to chemicals and heat than untreated hair.
The condition can also vary significantly from one section to another.
For example, the newly grown roots may still have relatively good strength, while the mid-lengths and ends may have accumulated stress from bleaching, coloring, previous straightening, and daily heat styling.
Because of these differences, the entire head should not necessarily be treated with the same chemical formula or heat application.
Before performing Coconut Hair Straightening®︎, we carefully check the condition of both the bleached and non-bleached areas.
We assess factors such as:
- Hair thickness and elasticity
- Previous bleaching and color history
- Strength and location of the waves
- Dryness through the ends
- Remaining strength in each section
- How the hair responds when wet
Based on this assessment, we determine how much chemical and thermal action each section can safely handle.

Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ for Bleached Hair
With Coconut Hair Straightening®︎, we do not simply apply one formula from roots to ends.
We adjust the treatment according to the condition of each section.
Bleached areas often have a different moisture and oil balance compared with healthier sections of the hair.
For this reason, even details such as drying technique and flat-iron application need to be carefully controlled.
The goal is to properly straighten the waves while avoiding unnecessary additional stress on the more fragile areas.
Rather than relying only on strong chemicals or high heat, we carefully balance the chemical formula, drying process, iron technique, and heat application.
Combined With Our Recrystallization Treatment
For this client, we also combined Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ with our Recrystallization Treatment.
The treatment was used to improve the feel and condition of the more damaged ends while creating a smoother texture through the entire length.
Instead of forcing every section of the hair to become perfectly straight with the same amount of chemical power, we separated the areas that required stronger correction from the areas where protecting the condition of the hair was the priority.
This careful approach helped create a smooth finish without making the ends look stiff or overly processed.

Smooth, Soft Hair Through the Ends
After the treatment, the waves were significantly reduced from the roots through the ends.
The dry, rough appearance of the bleached sections also became less noticeable, leaving the hair smoother and easier to manage.
Our goal with Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ is not simply to create straight hair.
We aim for a finish that feels:
- Smooth
- Soft
- Naturally flexible
- Easy to manage
- Moisturized rather than stiff
Beautiful results come from carefully completing every individual step of the process.
By controlling the chemical treatment, moisture balance, drying, and ironing technique with precision, we aim to minimize unnecessary damage while creating the soft, smooth texture that characterizes Coconut Hair Straightening®︎.
Don’t Give Up on Hair Straightening Just Because Your Hair Is Bleached
Bleached hair requires careful assessment, and there are cases where we may recommend postponing straightening or treating only certain sections.
However, being told that your hair has been bleached does not always mean that you have to give up on smoother, more manageable hair.
At melco HairDesign Okinawa, we evaluate each client’s hair individually rather than making a decision based only on whether bleach has been used.
If you are struggling with waves, frizz, or dryness in bleached hair, please feel free to consult with us.
We will carefully check your current hair condition and recommend a treatment plan that does not place unnecessary stress on your hair.
