We often receive these kinds of questions.
Even if you enjoy bleached or high-tone hair, waves, frizz, and unwanted volume can still be frustrating.
Today, we would like to introduce a client with bleached hair who received Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ and hair color during the same appointment.
Can Hair Straightening and Color Be Done on Bleached Hair on the Same Day?
The answer is: depending on the condition of the hair, it may be possible.
However, this does not mean that every client with bleached hair can safely receive both services at the same time.
Bleached hair can be more fragile and more sensitive to chemicals and heat.
If the remaining strength of the hair and its current damage level are not properly evaluated, the ends may become rough, overly fragile, or prone to breakage.
For this reason, a careful hair assessment before the service is extremely important.
The Client’s Hair Before Treatment
This client had bleached hair and had been receiving full hair color every one to two months.
There were noticeable waves around the roots, and the entire hairstyle tended to expand and become more difficult to manage on humid days.
At the same time, the ends showed dryness and roughness caused by previous bleaching.
In other words, the condition of the hair was very different depending on the area.
For this type of hair, we do not treat the entire head with the same formula or technique.
Each section needs to be evaluated and treated according to its individual condition.
How We Approach Hair Straightening on Bleached Hair
When performing Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ on bleached hair, we carefully control factors such as:
- Chemical strength according to the level of damage and the strength of the waves
- Heat application according to the condition of each section
- Iron timing in increments as small as 0.25 seconds
- Areas where the hair should not be pushed beyond its current strength
For this client, we properly straightened the waves around the roots while avoiding unnecessary stress on the bleached areas.
We then performed hair color during the same appointment to create a more even overall color and finish.
Hair straightening on bleached hair is not simply about choosing a weaker chemical formula.
The processing time, heat, tension, and condition of each individual section all need to be carefully controlled.
The Result
After the treatment, the waves and unwanted volume around the roots were significantly reduced, and the hair became smoother and easier to manage through the ends.
The result was not stiff or excessively straight.
Instead, the hair maintained a soft, flexible feel with a natural-looking shine.
Because the hair became easier to manage simply by blow-drying, the client can also spend less time using a flat iron every morning.
After Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ improved the overall texture, performing hair color during the same appointment also created a more balanced and polished appearance.
Despite the hair having a history of bleaching, the finished long hair looked smooth, soft, and naturally glossy.
You Don’t Always Have to Give Up Hair Straightening Because of Bleach

“My hair has been bleached, so hair straightening is impossible.”
However, there are cases where Coconut Hair Straightening®︎ and hair color can be performed on the same day, provided the current hair condition is carefully assessed and the treatment is adjusted accordingly.
Of course, there are also situations where we may recommend separating the services or postponing straightening because the hair is not currently strong enough.
